All : On the battery control issue I believe y ou are on to something> I have a Dell E1705, and had spikes. I did two things
1. I disabled my Nvidia graphics driver in the hardware manager.
2. I also disabled the battery controller (through BIOS, if im not mistaken)
with these two things offline I never had an issue again. Virtual DJ has tightened up the software in later versions, as instead of an audio drop out I just get a audio distortion. I still experiment with my pioneer setup, and BCD3000 setup just to see how much of a regular use laptop I can maintain, and still perform DJ tasks without issue.

did you uninstall all of the crap software dell preloads, also switch power management to full power or server mode.
also make sure your antivirus software is disabled or set not to scan in the background. that laptop ships with max battery life
enabled which means it barely plays solitare.
