Sujet PHASE HID - Support in VirtualDJ - Page: 8
Excellent! Gonna test it next weekend.

Honestly I haven't found further major issues at this point...but I'm probably not testing everything and I've no way currently to test on Windows. The only minor thing I've found is that Phase doesn't always assume control on startup (my use case is a DJM S11 with phase in HID mode on an M1 MacBook Pro 16 GB), and in that case, I have to unplug and replug the receiver to get the remotes to respond (no VirtualDJ restart required).

Curious to know of the experience of others.

So I found another problem that may be suggesting higher resource usage in HID mode. I ran a stream today that goes to a radio station (ShoutCAST), while recording the output as flac. I was playing audio and videos (VirtualDJ was the only manually triggered user application running, I didn't check in detail for other processes), and sending vide data to a streaming laptop for output via USB-C to HDMI to capture card to USB-C.
All of this is being done on 2020 M1 MacBook Pro (16GB RAM).
I found very erractic behavour occuring - remotes randomly doing initial recalibration, very fast sing play randomly - that was enough to make me switch back to DVS records.
None of this ever occurs if I'm.just using it in HID mode (without all the extras mentioned above).

I've not compared the same situation in Phase DVS mode to see if it happens there...may try it as well soon.

So I got around to updating everything last night and I still get a little drift but nothing I didnt already have even with DVS while using VDJ.

Ill keep testing this week.

Hello VDJ Users, just gave Phase a try in HID VDJ 8124 and I have lots of sticker drift when juggling/scratching, what are the recommended settings? timecode ignore pitchbend yes/no same drifts
thanks

btw works fine in Phase DVS

My setup info:
- MacBook Pro i5 2.7ghz, 8 GB macOS Monterey VDJ 8124
- Phase MWM v2.4.5, firmware 9
- HID mode has the problem cue sticker drift (DVS mode is fine)
- I'm using 2× Technics 1210

Post a video? Tbh I have noticed a drift on a recent play with it but it was after a while of normal play and doing some fairly fast scratch movements. I haven't used it since to confirm the problem is persistent, or due to some sort of resource leakage in phase itself or VirtualDJ.

AFAIK there is no obvious settings to tighten response that I know of because it's functioning as a HID controller, unlike DVS that has things like timecode silence, etc, but Devs may have a better recommendation here.

Did a quick video this morning, first issue was connecting phase, usb on/off, vinyl mode on/off, then has you can see the drift, the cue point moves forward and back.

just tested VDJ and PHASE HID in Windows10, no drift, very tight just like serato!
but the drift in macOS Monterey is there, its impossible to perform chirp scratches or whatever because of the cue point drifting. check video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZqH-u5LOfI

turned off stems and raised latency to 64/128 samples same drifting results

PS: its always a pain to connect Phase in VDJ, always have to reset(disconnect) cant find a quick way...

Can anyone please confirm the drifting cue point issue on macOS Monterey?thanks

We will check Drift in MacOS.

And why is that ? Can you explain further the steps you follow or the kind of troubles you get ?

I startup vdj with phase connected, its detected by vdj but after removing remotes from the receiver, they dont work, I open settings and disable phase, switch to HID, sometimes they run, sometimes I have to switch vinyl off/on onscreen, sometimes the track plays but cant scratch. In serato I just run the software and then switch onscreen to WIR.

I second this take and I actually mentioned it earlier in the message chain for this post...the detection mechanism isn't reliable, I have to unplug + replug half of the time on startup.

The drift I don't experience consistently myself on my Mac but it does happen.

I thought the unplug + replug was just me and part of the the chain to get it running. lol Glad to see others have the same issue.

gave another test today, in Win10 Phase is amazing! HID and/or DVS (set timecode silence to 0zero), cant figure wich is tighter, I can backspin a whole track and the first beat/cue point will always be spot on.
but again the connecting is a pain! its infuriating, sometimes I loose connection on left or right deck, sometimes decks start playing fast...etc...

any news on an update fixing the macOS Monterey drift? it drifts both HID and DVS. thank you

Could you do the same tests on all platforms (the same juggle/breakdown pattern on MacOS, the same pitch riding on Windows)?

I'm asking this because it seems like those are two different things being compared (HID resolution/accuracy on manual platter movement (shorter bursts of speed/direction changes and hopefully no movement misses due to the resolution) vs response to pitch changes (a more permanent speed change). Also for the latter, turning timecodeSliderIgnorePitchBend off may help there (it actually affects the Phase HID mode too if I recall correctly).

I've never done the latter test but the former I've done a (much) simpler version of the former on MacOS and it didn't seem to drift.

all the videos I shared today are on windows 10.
I just tested in macOS MonteRey like DJ VinylTouch sugested and there are no issues regarding pitch latency, Phase also works fine. so the latency in pitch response is only in Windows 10. remember to turn Off timecodeSliderIgnorePitchBend and MasterTempo
DJ VinylTouch in macOS Monterey there is Cue sticker drift so I cant perform juggles or scratches the drift is bad, really bad in HID
